I thought I'd introduce myself properly to those of you I haven't had the chance to meet yet. I'm a social care consultant/social worker based in Cheshire. People often ask me what that actually means. A social worker has training and experience in how to untangle complicated family problems and to support you in a crisis. When you are helping your mum or dad with life changing decisions, it is very difficult to find the best way forward unless you have someone to show you the options available.

Have you had experience of working with a social worker? How did it help you?

Just to be clear, I don't have any connection with social services but I am a registered and qualified social worker so I have a lot of experience and information to share.

You can contact me via this page, on my mobile tel 07923 184316, or email me on sally@imworriedaboutmum.com

It occurred to Pooh and Piglet that they hadn't heard from Eeyore for several days, so they put on their hats and coats and trotted across the Hundred Acre Wood to Eeyore's stick house. Inside the house was Eeyore.

"Hello Eeyore," said Pooh.

"Hello Pooh. Hello Piglet," said Eeyore, in a Glum Sounding Voice.

"We just thought we'd check in on you," said Piglet, "because we hadn't heard from you, and so we wanted to know if you were okay."

Eeyore was silent for a moment. "Am I okay?" he asked, eventually. "Well, I don't know, to be honest. Are any of us really okay? That's what I ask myself. All I can tell you, Pooh and Piglet, is that right now I feel really rather Sad, and Alone, and Not Much Fun To Be Around At All. Which is why I haven't bothered you. Because you wouldn't want to waste your time hanging out with someone who is Sad, and Alone, and Not Much Fun To Be Around At All, would you now."

Pooh looked at Piglet, and Piglet looked at Pooh, and they both sat down, one on either side of Eeyore in his stick house.

Eeyore looked at them in surprise. "What are you doing?"

"We're sitting here with you," said Pooh, "because we are your friends. And true friends don't care if someone is feeling Sad, or Alone, or Not Much Fun To Be Around At All. True friends are there for you anyway. And so here we are."

"Oh," said Eeyore. "Oh." And the three of them sat there in silence, and while Pooh and Piglet said nothing at all; somehow, almost imperceptibly, Eeyore started to feel a very tiny little bit better.

Because Pooh and Piglet were There.

No more; no less.

“The support workers gave me confidence to carry on, I had someone to talk to, who took the time to really listen to me. I looked forward to the days when the care worker visited me.”- Doris, Harrow
“I had peace of mind, when I went out shopping, knowing that Doris was not left home alone. I felt reassured that a familiar face was with her which would stop her worrying while I was out. She was able to play her chart music with the support worker and this gave Doris some time for herself while I was out.”- Doris’s partner, Harrow
“From the start, booking, meet and greets etc., Acacia Homecare have been professional and friendly in equal manner. Both my mother’s support workers have been excellent with my mother who has enjoyed their company and felt at ease and happy. I would use your service again and would like the same support workers to return. Thank you to everyone involved.”- Sally, Hillingdon
“I found Jo and her team caring and thoughtful, and my mum was very fond of the carers she met. They were able to be very flexible and to respond quickly to our requests for help. I can thoroughly recommend them.”- K (Daughter of patient), Barnet
“I feel well cared for and in control of my life.“- M, Barnet
